Illinoize Annoys

For the past couple of days a couple of bloggers from Illinoize have been posting irritating stuff about homeschooling. One says we're a bunch of fundies who shouldn't be homeschooling while the other says we're a bunch of fundies but we should be allowed to homeschool. Now granted, one has made a little progress by doing some research but the two of them still seem to be working under the assumption that we're all teaching our kids that earth is only a few thousand years old. In fact, one decided that:

Universally, the parents who decide to home school their kids tend to be the least connected with reality anyhow...

Have at if you wish but it doesn't seem to be promising ground for good discussion. Apparently me being a Canadian means I live in a tiny reality and don't understand the larger American homeschooling experience.

I know Susan. :) I hope I didn't imply I thought any less of your state...It was the two bloggers that I was discouraged by.

Eeeewwww! I don't bother trying to enlighten those types anymore. BTDT!! They don't want to "discuss" their opinions.

I know! All I was thinking after I posted this was your, "Never wrestle with a pig," saying. :)

That's true.... about wrestling with a pig.

But I always wonder about the people who are lurking and thinking and maybe even considering homeschooling.

I just dunno...

Oh! Oh!

That's such a good point! Can I change my answer? :)

LOL! I just hope people thinking about homeschooling have brains and can separate out the crap from the good stuff. There is a lot of good stuff out there -- and a lot of crap. I always appreciate when people go to bat for homeschooling against the uninformed, but I have chosen not to be a part of it. I've tried, and I didn't appreciate the result.

It's very tempting to walk away from that insane blog. If they let people like them post, then I have to wonder.
Is that what non-homeschoolers who hate religious fundamentalists really think? Gads....they couldn't find someone to post on that blog that at least had a brain in their head and could read information? You made good and basic points about critical thinking, Dawn.
I recognize several names on the blogger list that I respect, but these 2 going at homeschoolers definitely tarnish capitolfax imo.
