The house is insanely big. It's got 3 levels (one unfinished) with over 1900 sq. feet each. It also has 5 acres. My big concern? How much does it cost to heat that bugger?
Regardless, it's neat. Very neat.

Yah, it's neat. But it looks wrong. Dunno... can't place my finger on it. It just looks wrong. It's not a "OMG I love driving up to my house" kind of house. Plus I can tell from your tone that it's just a "yahhh, it's okay I guess".
"Your" house will show up and unlike everyone else out there (all those poor people with a house they need to sell first) you'll be in prime position to snap it up.
I figured it out. The roof is too big, in both area and pointiness and the windows are too small.
Just sayin'.

I really did love it and then I drove up last night and wasn't taken with the way it was placed on the property. But I also do really love it in a way but am worried that heating the place would break us. :) We'll have to look at it and see.
Well I bet that roof would hold a whole bunch of solar panels :-) Or do it on the cheap like this guy:

I budgeted $200/month when we heated 2200 sq. ft. It looks rather open concept, if you put a stove insert in that fireplace with an ecofan circulating the air it would be awesome on heat.
I just went and checked, I'm anal, I keep all that sort of info. We spent a little over $2000/year for the two years we were in 2200 sq. feet. $1550 in electricity the first year, plus $525 for 2 cords of wood. The next year we didn't buy any wood and it was a little over $2000, so in fact saved nothing by burning wood.
The year that it was all electricity we used 16845 Kwatts. NSPower prices have gone up, but that should give you some heating costs. Assuming it's all electric.
You can ask for copies of their heat bills you know, they probably already have some done up for prospective buyers. Each time we sold a house we had to provide that info to the selling agent.

Those are good ideas! Half the roof faces south so solar panels are a good option!
Sorry to jump in here, but I think the house looks fantastic! Definitely check out the energy bills though because *damn* that's one big house. My whole house would fit on each of the floors.
No kidding! each floor would actually fit more then two of our current houses. :D
Ohhhhh, 1900 Sq. Feet EACH level?! OMG. That *is* huge. When are you going to see it?
Hoopefully this week. I have to contact the agent about it tommorrow I think. Another hitch with it is that's it's an exclusive listing meaning the vendor's agent would represent us as well. I do NOT like that idea so hopefully our agent can work something out.
Yah, we had dual agency on our second house we bought and in retrospect we would not do that again. We did not get the best advice, it was stupid on our part.
I don't know anything about agents and all that, nor do I know much about heating a home, since we've always rented with utilities included...but what I do know - or at least, what I think LOL - is that that house has character! I like! :-D
