House Inspection

We had the house inspection today. The inspector was pleased, said we were lucky and that it was nice to inspect a house without any real problems. And he loved the view. Everybody loves the view. And why not, today we looked out the window and saw a windtower that is about 25 miles from the house. Wowsers.

An added bonus - he said that although the cedar shingles have had a coat of something-or-other put on them to maintain their colour we don't have to maintain that. We can simply let it wear off and let the shingles silver over time. Which is what I'd prefer anyway as I've always wanted a house with silver cedar shingles. I had thought that once they were shellaced or what ever it was that was done, they always had to be. Not so! Whoo hoo!

Yay! Great news.

The view, is perhaps, the greatest selling point. Other variables could be changed, fussed with, or even completely redone over time. The view, however, is there to stay. Location, location, location.

And the *no maintenance* maintenance of the cedar shingles is an amazing bonus.

Sounds like you're getting to have your cake and eat it too. You lucky duck!

You knw what? I think that whatever house we ended up with, as long as I was somewhat happy with it, I would have fallen in love with and been ecstatic about. I tend to work that way, see the good and forget about the bad. So I often look at my life and think how lucky or fortunate but I'm betting it's more a matter of a selection bias at work that screens out the stuff that someone else might keep note of.
