Ancient Egypt is ALWAYS a favourite in our house. It's been an interest of Catherine's for about 5 years now. It's been a little dormant lately but Story of the World seems to have sparked it again so we got ahold of a copy of History Channel's
Engineering an Empire and watched the episode on ancient Egypt. Fantastic stuff. It covers the first pyramid built by Djoser, Hatshepsut's temple and even fantastic super-fortresses built by the Pharoah Senusret that look almost like fortresses from the middle ages.
I'm not going to be tempted by worksheets on this though. We'll stick to the odd craft and luckily, I found a great one at the
Cleveland Museum of Art.

I'll have to look for some more but I think I'll sit down and talk with Catherine to find out what most interested her from the Building an Empire episode and taylor it to that.
